On 28 April 2010 the President of the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) Sergei Konnov came out with an initiative to hold a first Nationwide Day of Free Legal Aid.

The UBA President appealed to all Ukrainian lawyers to support the initiative to hold on May 18 the nationwide day of free legal aid to individuals and legal entities.

The initiative includes provision of legal assistance to low-income individuals, public, charitable and other nonprofit organizations and private entrepreneurs. The UBA urged lawyers to join this event and to inform all who might be interested about the possibility of obtaining free legal assistance.

If the new initiative is supported by the legal community, the Ukrainian Day of Free Legal Aid will be hold annually on every third Tuesday in May.
